Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Estimator located in Cypress, TX. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil & sitework projects for public and private entities that include earthwork, utilities, site development, roadway, and structural work. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop detailed quantity takeoffs, cost models, and bid proposals. The Estimator works closely with company management, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions and meet project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving, structures, and sitework.
• Develop cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for public and private sector projects.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive, complete pricing.
• Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Maintain an organized database of historical costs, production rates, and vendor pricing.
• Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure seamless project handoff.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as needed.
• Assist in schedule development and review project phasing requirements.
• Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety requirements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or sitework construction.
• Strong understanding of siteworks, utilities, road construction, and civil infrastructure.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Excel).
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and a proven track record with hard bids and negotiated work.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods and experience with subcontractors & suppliers in the Houston area.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
